Indeed I have. I hiked for over a decade with a group of fisherman who were obsessed with finding the biggest golden trout around. This took me to many many lakes, some of which had no goldens or no fish at all. This guide is written from first hand experience and, depending on when you go you will likely find the experience the same.

My trips were all in late August or early September . We went that time of year to make sure the snow was melted from the passes and that the mosquitos were at a minimum.

Certainly there would be more water available for drinking as the winter snow llikely would not have melted off. There would be more mosquitos for sure and maybe the fish would be easier to catch as they may be hungries. If you go earlier in the year I would love to hear from you what you experienced
